TILEHURST pupils were visited by a hearing dog after they had raised more than £200 for the charity.
Pupils at Westwood Farm Infant and Junior Schools, in Fullbrook Crescent, were joined by George Street and his hearing dog Jake at an assembly on Wednesday, July 22.
The children raised £240 from a barking bake-off and cupcake challenge run by the school's Hearing Resource Bases, and presented their donation to Mr Street for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.
During the presentation, Mr Street gave a short demonstration of how hearing dogs can help.
At the same assembly, Huawei Telecoms and ICT donated £1,000 towards an artificial grass area for the foundation stage at the school.
The foundation stage staff ran a Pimm’s tent at the May Fayre, and the children took part in a sponsored ‘colours of nature’ collection during the Easter break.
“An artificial grass area will help us to extend our learning outdoors and we are grateful for all the support we have had,” said Mrs Burridge, foundation stage leader.
