AN OVERTURNED lorry continues to cause major delays for commuters along the M4.

The M4 was completely closed after the incident yesterday afternoon, with the westbound carriageway reopened shortly before 9pm on Tuesday 28.

Although two lanes have now opened, a spokesperson for Highways England said that the third lane is still closed for the concrete to set.

The third eastbound lane is expected to be re-open between 4.00pm - 4.30pm today (Wednesday 29).

Police were called at 12.48pm on Tuesday 28, after a lorry overturned between junctions 12 and 11 going eastbound on the M4.

Charlotte Redman from Thames Valley Police, said: "We were called to an RTC involving two lorries. Two lanes are closed west bound and three lanes are closed eastbound."

Vehicles going eastbound are being taken off the M4 at junction 11, whereas vehicles travelling westbound are being prevented from accessing the M4.

Firecrews from Dee Road, Wokingham Road and Woking attended the scene.

Catherine Morrow from South Central Ambulance Service said that they sent an ambulance crew and one ambulance officer at 12.47pm.

She said: "There were reports of a lorry colliding with the central reservation.

"They were treating one patient for a pelvic injury. The male will be taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment."
