TRAFFIC jams are building up in west Reading and Caversham as heavy plant machinery moves into the partially built Network Rail depot in Richfield Avenue.

Motorists have been caught in long tailbacks as articulated lorries manoeuvre into the construction site which is being built as part of the 850m Reading Station upgrade.

Meanwhile there are huge jams in east Reading as contractors continue a five-day resurfacing of the A4 London Road. The main road is shut between Cemetery Junction and Sutton Seeds Roundabout from 8am-8pm today and tomorrow with diversions via Wokingham Road.

The work is part of Reading Borough Council's six week 845,000 resurfacing programme, which began last month.

Reading Buses services 13 and 14 are subject to diversions and delays with customers advised to check the company's website and Twitter page for updates.
