MOTORISTS are being warned that slip roads serving Junction 10 of the M4 Motorway at Winnersh are being closed over the next 10 nights from tonight (Monday).

The closures, to enable Highways Agency workers to carry out a variety of maintenance tasks, will affect individual slip roads on different nights between 10pm and 5am when traffic is at its lightest.

During the slip-road closures, which will only take place from Monday to Friday, there will be clear warning signs showing alternative routes, with diversions operating via the A329(M) towards Reading or Wokingham respectively.

The work includes essential repairs to safety fencing, litter collection, drain clearance and maintenance and grass cutting.

Highways Agency route performance manager Peter Scott said: "This work has been carefully planned so we can carry out a number of routine maintenance tasks simultaneously rather than closing the junction over a protracted period of time to carry out the tasks individually.

"In doing the work in this manner, we hope to further reduce the amount of disruption caused to drivers."

Slip road closures:

Monday, November 15 and Tuesday, November 16: Both slip roads from M4 (Eastbound and Westbound) onto A329(M) Northbound towards Reading.

Wednesday, November 17 and Thursday, November 18: Both slip roads from M4 (Eastbound and Westbound) onto A329(M) Southbound towards Bracknell.

Friday, November 19 and Monday, November 22: Slip road from A329(M) Southbound onto M4 Westbound.

Tuesday, November 23: Slip road from A329(M) Northbound onto M4 Eastbound.

Closures could also operate on Wednesday, November 24, Thursday, November 25 and Friday, November 26 if any phases of the work are not completed in time or there are any other delays.

Motorists are advised to check the Highways Agency website, www.highways.gov.uk or DAB Digital Traffic Radio for the most up-to-date travel information.
