The Corn Exchange, Newbury has just announced their new season of comedy, theatre, music, magic, dance and circus, and once again there is a diverse range of shows to blow away your post-Christmas blues.

Kicking off the comedy highlights, BBC Radio4 favourite Mark Steel (10 Feb) explores his history in his new show Who do I think I am?; the multi-award winning comedian Russell Kane (4 Mar) discusses the aging process in Right Man, Wrong Age; and star of BBC’s Dead Ringers and The Impressions Show,Debra Stephenson (1 Apr) takes to the stage for an evening of comedy, music and impressions.

 Immerse yourself in the decadence of America’s ‘Jazz Age’ with The Great Gatsby (2 & 3 Feb), a new stage adaptation from nationally acclaimed Blackeyed Theatre. Iphigenia in Splott (24 Feb) is a moving story about a girl whose life has spiraled out of control until one night she has the chance to be something more. In March The Curve, Leicester and Rose Theatre Kingston bring Roald Dahl’s scariest book The Witches (8 – 12 Mar) to life and features a talented cast of actor-musicians and illusions that will leave you flabbergasted.

 There’s something for families of all ages too with a big-hearted tale of true friendship with My Pet Monster and Me (18 Feb) and all the answers to ‘how did they do that’ that you hear whilst watching your favourite family action film with The Hollywood Special Effects Show (20 Feb). This show shed’s some rather explosive light on the matter and gets you up close to the action, as you discover the secrets of creating movie magic.

Circa Tsuica perform their fun and uproarious show Opus 7 (15 Mar) which features a potent blend of risk-taking acrobatics and foot-stomping live music that will leave you gasping and laughing in equal measure. Featuring the world’s best tap dancers and international musicians, Tap Factory (27 Mar) is packed with dance, percussion and comedy with the added thrill of aerial acrobatics.

There’ll be a whole host of country music and rock ’n’ roll classics in Forever in Blue Jeans (29 Jan); internationally acclaimed (and Newbury favourite) Barb Jungr (16 Mar) and Grammy Award winning Laurence Hobgood, the American progressive and contemporary jazz piano virtuoso, perform their collaboration Shelter from the Storm. Featuring two of the originals, The Three Degrees (26 Mar), the most soulful female group on the circuit, have been touring continuously for more than 40 years and will be coming to Newbury in March.
