Reading Rock Academy's Battle Of The School Bands returns for the third time - bigger and better than ever!

Entries have been whittled down to just 10 hopefuls from schools around Berkshire and Oxfordshire, and the young musicians are practising hard for their make-or-break appearance at the semi finals at Reading's Jazz Cafe on Thursday, April 12, from 7pm.

The semi finalists are: It Varies, from Brighton Hill Community College; Sundara Karma from The Oratory School; Febueder from Charters School; Our Final Debut - Great Marlow School; Ioneye from Marlborough School; Independence from Brighton Hill Community School; Five Thirty One from Reading Blue Coat School / Henley College; Chasing Waves from Little Heath School; My Everest from Farnborough Hill; and The Kicks from John Madejski Academy.

Each band will be performing their own compositions, and competing for a place in the final at Rivermead Leisure Centre on August 4, in front of up to 1,500 people. The winning group will scoop the title of Reading Rock Academy's Best School Band in the Thames Valley, as well as getting the chance to professionally record a track in Whitehouse Studios in Reading, which will be released on iTunes.

So bag your tickets for the semis now and book your chance to see the rock stars of the future!
