Win PSP Tactics games

Closing Date: Monday, 8th December

Who wants to be a hero? With a pedigree which includes a reputation for being one of the best side-scrolling shooters in gaming history, the R-Type franchise is considered to be a cult masterpiece of the you-against-the-world side-scrolling shooter genre.

Celebrating its 21st year since R-Type first appeared in Japanese gaming arcades, R-Type Tactics takes the luscious, large-scale visuals that made the original such a success and melds this classic brand with state-of-the-art tactical gameplay.

So, rather than scrolling from left to right and taking down fighters with instinct and reactions, players must battle across hexagonal grids and use intelligence and strategy to take down the Bydo menace.

True to the series’ history, enemies can be massive, occupying multiple spaces on the grid – but thankfully, this time you’re in control of more than just a single fighter.

Your armada includes warships, carriers, re-supply vessels and bombers, all of which you’ll have to deploy smartly if you’re going to save the world. Again.

To win one of five copies of R-Type Tactics on PSP, just answer this simple question:

What year was the original R-Type released?
