Get the most out of your CSL sofa with these great leather sofa care tips

Leather sofas are still as popular as ever. You will find many different variations in the great range available at CSL from the classic black leather sofa to purple or red modern leather sofa styles. With such a great selection, choosing the right leather sofa has never been easier.

Versatility is definitely a key reason why the black leather sofa is still popular. The ability to change the decor in your lounge without having to change your key furniture is an advantage. Another reason why consumers favour leather is the price. Still relatively inexpensive, leather is hard wearing, durable and ideal for families and households with pets, therefore lasting for many years. This leads to one of the most praised features of leather - the ability to clean it easily.

Although fabric sofas can look beautiful when brand new, they can become stained very easily with normal day to day use. It doesn't take much to spill a drop of coffee or red wine on the fabric and it can be extremely difficult to remove the stain completely. A leather sofa can be wiped clean and therefore spills and marks can be removed very easily. Leather is an ideal investment and can be a godsend for families with young children.

Looking after your leather sofa is imperative to ensure it looks and feels great. With so many products on the market, it can be confusing to find the right cleaner. Determining which type of leather your sofa is made with will help you identify the right product. Some leather is thicker and can need a deeper cleaning product, whereas some leather needs more delicate products to avoid cracking. Here are some great tips ensure your CSL sofa stays looking as good as new:

Specific general leather wipes can be bought from all major supermarkets and hardware stores. These are like baby wipes and can be used directly on the leather to remove sticky mess, marks and spills, or just for a general wipe over.

Leather foam cleaners are highly rated and these are applied directly to the leather sofa, allowed to soak in and wiped off with a clean cloth.

If you want to do a deep clean of your leather, especially if you have a black leather sofa, leather conditioners can be buffed into the leather to clean it and improve the appearance of the leather, giving a beautiful patina to the leather.

Soap and water is a good way to clean your leather sofa. Use the water sparingly.

Some people recommend old fashioned soap flakes. These can be bought cheaply from most supermarkets and gently remove dirt and grime, leaving your leather looking and smelling great!

Many tips on the internet recommend saddle soap. Normally used for cleaning saddles, this soap is also highly effective on leather furniture. It will enhance the leather and make it more durable and long lasting.

There are many recommendations for inexpensive ways to remove marks from your leather. It depends on the origin of the mark but store cupboard items can be great for restoring your leather sofa. Salt is recommended for removing red wine and vinegar is good for tackling ink marks!

So make sure you regularly clean your leather to keep it looking like new and ensure you treat all stains and marks as soon as possible to ensure the best chance of removal.
