Why kids love camping

If you have already started planning for your child's summer holidays, then a camping or caravan trip is sure to be top of your list of ideas. These tips provide an opportunity for your children to explore natural landscapes and offer an abundance of great activities and enjoyment.

Both kids and adults love camping, as each camping trip can be tailored to your individual needs. Camping offers a holiday experience that is far more unique than a standard summer break - and that is just one of the reasons why kids love it.

Another reason why kids enjoy camping is that they are able to take their favourite toys with them. This makes the campsite feel more familiar, giving them a home-from-home experience. Some campsites also have their own playgrounds or activity areas to keep children entertained whilst others allow children to create their own games and simply enjoy being outdoors.

All children love the time they get to spend in new environments and camping trips offer an extensive variety of these. These trips let them see different animals and birds in their natural habitats, something which can be highly enjoyable and educational.

Alongside these reasons, children also love camping because of the excitement it brings with it. Everything from buying the equipment to setting up the tent is considered a fun and enjoyable experience and that makes it popular with children of all ages.

The best ways to enhance the enjoyment for you and your kids is to ensure that you complete all of the necessary activities together. Even when shopping for new camping equipment - whether that is a North Face jacket or a pair of Yaktrax Pro ice grips - take your children with you and get them involved.

Ask for their opinion when buying essential items and explain the difference between certain products to them. Even assigning simple tasks, like getting them to choose their own sleeping bag or item of Regatta clothing, can offer them increased enjoyment and make your trip more of a success.

When erecting the tent or preparing the campsite, children are almost guaranteed to want to get involved. Of course, this can sometimes cause problems for parents who simply want to get everything sorted in the quickest time frame possible.

To address this problem, get smaller children to help with a minor task. This can be anything from unpacking the tent to fetching water from a nearby tap. Feel free to include your children with the assembly of the tent but remember to consider their safety at all times.

Once the tent has been put up you can then get your children to unpack their own sleeping bags or inflate their own air beds. This is a great way for them to feel involved and gives you a break from the hard work too.

Once your tents and other equipment is set up you can then begin considering what you want to do. Collect leaflets or information on nearby attractions and ask your children what they want to visit. Then make a rough itinerary for your stay and enjoy all the delights which camping trips have to offer.
