Be prepared for help at the tills
CUSTOMERS at Sainsburys’ Newbury store will be offered some extra help with their packing from local Scout groups in the run up to Christmas.
The 1st Inkpen and Kintbury Cub Scouts will be in store on Saturday and members of the 1st Thatcham Scouts will be on hand to help on Sunday.
It is the turn of the 1st Newbury Sea Scouts on Saturday, December 13 and Headley Scouts will be helping on Sunday, December 14. The 2nd Thatcham Scout group close the scheme on Sunday, December 21.
Shoppers at the store are also in for a festive musical treat.
Hungerford Town Band will be entertaining customers with some Christmas tunes at the store from 6-8.30pm on December 8, 16 and 18; pupils from St Bartholomew’s School are performing on December 10 from 5-6.30pm; the Newbury Nomads will be singing Carols from 6.30-7.30pm on December 17 and 22, and from 2.30-3.30pm on December 20. Carollers supporting Christian Aid will also be there from 10am-12pm on December 20.
Store spokeswoman Carol Irwin said: “We understand how busy people are at this time of year so it will be great to have the Scouts in store to offer our customers some assistance, and with carol singers and musicians joining us there will be a great Christmas spirit here at Sainsburys.”
