A MAN died when the car he was driving ended up in a field in the early hours of this morning.

The motorist, who is yet to be formally identified, was driving along the A4155 Henley Road, towards Playhatch, when he crashed near The Flowing Spring pub.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the blue BMW 3 series leave the road, at 3.35am, or the vehicle being driven beforehand, to come forward.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and the road was closed while collision investigators examined the area, but the route reopened earlier this morning.

PC Jim Mahony, investigating, said: “I appeal to anyone who might have seen the car leave the road or it being driven prior to the crash to contact me.”

Contact PC Mahony, who is based at Abingdon police station, through Thames Valley Police’s enquiry centre on 08458 505 505, or speak to the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
