Southcote pupils wearing their recycled fashion

ENVIRONMENTAL fashion, art, music and cooking were explored during a school’s art week.

Pupils in each year at Southcote Primary School in Silchester Road took part in the activities, which ended with a recycled fashion show.

Teacher Alison Spencer said: “The idea behind it was to show them that you can actually re-use things to make things that are really trendy. They were really motivated by it – it was all really lovely and colourful.

“They walked up and down our little pretend catwalk and showed off their accessories and clothing.”

Pupils made tie-dyed T-shirts, hats, musical instruments, sculptures, inventive recipes and created a giant art attack of the world on the hall floor.

Mrs Spencer said: “It went really well. The children and the teachers really enjoyed what was happening and I think it will mean the children will now remember and will start to make changes in their own lives.”
