South East MEP Sharon Bowles

EUROPEAN politics and issues are up for discussion tomorrow night.

One of the region's Euro MPs, Lib Dem Sharon Bowles, is hosting the discussion at the University of Reading.

She is talking about 'what the EU does for us', amongst other issues, and expects lively debate.

Lib Dem student president Peter Walley said: "We are looking forward to quizzing our MEP on a number of issues and finding out what goes on in Europe."

Ms Bowles will be joined by Gareth Epps and Patrick Murray, the parliamentary candidates in Reading East and West.

The meeting is at 7.30pm on Tuesday in the Palmer Building, and people of all political persuasions are welcome to turn up, as are non-students.

Access to Environmental Information

A letter has been sent to Sharon and a Press Release to the Reading Chronicle regarding the efforts of Whitehall to introduce charging for what should be readily avilable information required in Home Information Packs.

I am sure that Sharon will be able to confirm that significant efforts are being made in European Parliament to redress the issue of "Access to Information" throughout Europe.

It is not just a local issue although should the Government introduce what is considered by some experts to be "illegal charging" it will have a significant on the price of Home Information Packs. This will impact directly on local residents buying or selling property.

I would be interested in Sharon's comments along with those of Gareth & Patrick. Perhaps there is opportunity for an editorial comment from the Reading Chronicle as well.

Our Company (Search Solutions) has carried out thousands of Property Searches to assist Home Buyers & Sellers over the years. Certainly introducing charges will have a serious impact on our business operation alongside adding cost to the conveyancing process. We have worked hard to minimise the cost for local residents who want to move, sadly current Government intent will not be so helpful.
