Mindless vandals torch skip

MINDLESS vandals who set fire to a skip in the early hours of yesterday morning[11] should think about the consequences of their actions according to firefighters.

Firefighters from Dee Road station were called out at 3am after the contents of a skip was set alight outside Chapels Dry Cleanering on the corner of Park Lane and Chapel Hill in Tilehurst.

Firefighter Gareth Evans said: “Some people thought it would be a good idea to set fire to the contents of a skip early this morning but the consequences could have been disastrous.

“We were able to respond quickly and deal with it appropriately this time but it could have been a lot worse.

"The skip was right up against the wall of the dry cleaners and it wouldn’t be long before the whole building caught fire.”
