Towpath wallet robber hunted by police
A ROBBER who snatched a wallet containing £220 from a 21-year-old in Reading town centre last Sunday is still on the loose.
The victim was walking along the south towpath of the River Kennet by the Queens Road car park at 7pm when he stopped to replace his driving licence in his wallet, after using it as a form of ID when buying cigarettes.
A man ran past and, catching the victim by surprise, snatched the black Henry Lloyd wallet before heading in the direction of the town centre.
The robber is black, aged around 30, and was wearing a dark blue hooded top with a single front pocket, jeans and white trainers with blue flashes on the side.
Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone who recognises the robber's description, to contact PC James Stuart at Reading police station on 0845 8 505 505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
