FIREFIGHTERS were called into action after a garden shed burst into flames earlier today (Thursday).

Crews from Whitley Wood, Caversham Road, and Wokingham Road stations arrived at a house in Hartland Road, Whitley at 4.48pm, and spent 25 minutes battling the blaze.

No-one was hurt, but the flames melted the guttering of the house next-door.

Delta crew manager of Whitley Wood fire station, Lee Glover, said: “We are classing it as a fire of doubtful origin as a neighbour spotted two youths running away from the scene.”
