Dramatic exam results for Francisca and Annabel
By Annabel Williams
Class act: Francisca Posada-Brown.
THERE was high drama at a Caversham school when news came in about two of its pupils’ achievements.
That’s because Queen Anne’s School pupils Francisca Posada-Brown and Annabel Leigh have discovered that their GCSE drama marks are among the top 10 in the country.
Future star: Annabel Leigh.
More than a month after students received their results, the news came from Britain’s largest exam board, Edexcel, which marked 60,878 entries in this summer’s GCSEs.
Francisca was celebrating her 17th birthday the day the news came through and says she is delighted, as was Annabel, who spent two weeks in the summer holidays training with theatre professionals at the National Youth Theatre in London.
Headteacher Julia Harrington said: “To have two top ten students is excellent news.
“Our students’ overall success is a reflection of the enthusiasm that girls and staff have for drama at Queen Anne’s, where our state-of-the-art theatre enables girls to enjoy an all-round experience of stage production.”
Head of drama, Rhodri Punter, said: “Our warmest congratulations go to Francisca and Annabel, and to all the girls who worked so hard to prepare for their GCSE drama examinations.”
