A VILLAGE’S neighbourhood policing team is hoping a repeat of a public event held last year will repeat the same results.

A crime reduction exhibition in Sonning Common did just that by more than 50%, and now the village’s officers have organised another event on Wednesday, October 1.

The event, at the village hall in Wood Lane, will be open between 9.30am-12pm and will give residents the opportunity to get advice and equipment, such as property marking pens, stickers and vehicle notices, to help them increase their home and car security.

Crime Reduction Advisor Julia Wheeler said: “Although house burglaries have fallen, Sonning Common is still targeted by burglars and the village also suffers has the largest amount of vehicle crime in comparison with others in the Henley area.”

Sonning Common Neighbourhood Specialist Officer, PC Julie Greenough, said: “The aim of this exhibition is to make Sonning Common even safer by helping residents to protect their property.

“We will also be security coding bicycles and would like to encourage residents in and around the village who have any concerns to come along.”
