A CRASH last night wrecked a motorbike and left its rider in hospital.

The collision between the Kawasaki motorcycle and a Rover 214 happened on Lower Earley Way around 5.30pm. The rider is in the Royal Berkshire Hospital with back and neck injuries, and is in a serious but not life-threatening condition. The car driver is said to be unhurt.

Lower Earley Way was closed between the Showcase cinema and the junction with Rushey Way for nearly three hours, causing massive disruption all round Lower Earley.
