Car gutted in blaze

FIREFIGHTERS were called to a roadside car fire last night (Friday), but found no sign of a driver.

The Peugot 106 was parked at Farley Hill and was had been alight for some time before a fire crew from Whitley Wood station were called at 10.30pm.

Crew manager Ali Burleigh said: "We're not sre whether it was dumped or what it was doing there. There was no sign of any driver. Because of its location, it took a while to be noticed. It was quite badly damaged and we were there for half an hour."
