SHAW House is set to open its doors to the public as part of the Discover Newbury scheme taking place later this month.

The Elizabethan Grade 1 listed house, built in 1581, boasts a fascinating history and occupants have included the Duke of Chandos, a wealthy Edwardian widow and World War Two soldiers.

During the 17th century the Royal family and their court made frequent visits to Shaw House and the public now have the chance to follow in the footsteps of royalty.

Shaw House is open Saturday, September 13 and Sunday, September 14 from 11am-5pm. Admission is by timed ticket only, for more information visit www.shawhouse.org.uk
