Make tracks to see Network Rail's £400m investment

A SERIES of public exhibitions come to Reading next month to seek views on £400million of improvements to the town’s railway station.
Network Rail unveils its plans for its biggest-ever investment from September 10.
Reading is a significant rail hub both locally and nationally because it is a crossing point for train lines from London to south Wales and the West Country and from the south coast to the Midlands, the North and Scotland.
Over the years the town has become a bottleneck, which causes delays.
With Government funding approved in July last year after years of lobbying by Reading Borough Council, the investment scheme seeks to bring more trains, faster journeys and a better station for passengers.
The project will also try to solve the long-running problem of the narrow Cow Lane bridges, a daily headache for drivers travelling through west Reading.
Public exhibition events will be on:
* Wednesday, September 10, 10am-6pm, Waterhouse Chamber, Reading Town Hall, Valpy Street.
* Thursday, September 11, 10am-8pm, Waterhouse Chamber again.
* Friday, September 12, 10am-6pm, Council Chamber, Reading Civic Centre, Dusseldorf Way.
* Saturday, September 13, 10am-6pm, Council Chamber, Civic Centre.
* Sunday, September 14, 11am-4pm, the Upper Mall, The Oracle shopping centre, Reading.
* Monday, September 15, 5-7pm, Reading Station.
