Keep an eye on your keys
By Annabel Williams
SONNING Common villagers are being warned to keep their car keys away from open windows or front doors to stop burglars reaching in and stealing them.
Police Community Support Officer Janice Smith, from the Sonning Common Police Team, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to remind people about leaving their windows open overnight.
“Recently there has been an increase in the number of burglaries where keys have been taken and vehicles stolen from outside the houses.
“Please keep your windows closed if you are not around and if your windows are left open don’t leave your keys accessible.
"This time of year also sees an increase in thefts from out-buildings such as sheds, and I would suggest to residents that they securely lock up their sheds to help prevent opportunist thieves.”
The officer hailed Sonning Common’s first police surgery as a success, as was a surgery for Binfield Heath and Dunsden residents.
