Traffic chaos after major IDR smash
By Maxwell Kusi-Obodum
A MOTORBIKE smash on the IDR on Wednesday afternoon has left a man in hospital and caused major delays throughout the town.
A rider on a silver Suzuki 600cc, a 21-year-old man from Wokingham, turned out of Great Knollys Street onto the IDR at 3.15pm and collided with a black and silver Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck.
The rider was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital with serious injuries and multiple fractures. Nobody else is thought to be hurt.
The IDR was sealed off in both directions while the accident was cleared, which has caused rush hour chaos throughout Reading.
PC Brendan Austin, of Three Mile Cross Roads Policing department, said: “This serious collision tragically caused life changing injuries to the rider of the motorcycle, and we urgently need to talk to anyone with information that may help us with our investigation.”
Contact PC Austin at Three Mile Cross Roads Policing through the Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 850 5505 or call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
