A CAVERSHAM centre for the elderly put on its biggest fete ever on Sunday and reaped a bumper reward.
The Friends of the Albert Road Day Centre organised the event to collect cash for Tai Chi classes and other activities for its visitors, and their efforts were a massive success, raising more than £800.
The Friends were joined by staff and residents at the Arthur Clark Care Home next door, who also set up a few stalls and took part in the fun.
The centre’s assistant unit manager, Vanessa Hart, said: “Everyone said what a lovely community event it was.
“The fete was well attended by friends, clients, relatives and local residents.
“The many activities and stalls organised by the centre’s Friends, and the Arthur Clark home, included bric-a-brac, cakes, cream teas, a barbecue, bottle stall, tombola and children’s activities, to name but a few.
“We want to say a massive thank you to the friends for what they have done, getting all the stuff together was a huge task as this was the biggest fete we’ve ever had.”
