Police appeal for witnesses of town centre assault

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 25-year-old man was assaulted outside a popular town centre bar.
During the attack, which took place outside the Pitcher and Piano in Friar Street at around 2am on June 19, the man was knocked unconscious and fell to the ground.
He was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital and police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Case Investigator Barbara Dudley, from Loddon Valley police station, said: “A man was seen running away from the location of the incident in the direction of Duke Street.
“I am keen to speak to any witnesses, or anyone who was around the area at the time and saw the man running away.”
