Do you recognise this man?
By Annabel Williams
Artists' impression of the motorcyclist the police are looking for.
THIS is the man police are hunting in connection with the shooting of Caversham father-of-two Stuart Purser early last month.
Officers released the image today in the hope the sketch will help them flush the would-be killer out.
Stuart, 26, was blasted in the face with a shotgun at point blank range at the doorstep of his home in Mead Close on May 5.
Miraculously he survived, coming out of intensive care at Royal Berkshire Hospital on May 25.
The former Little Heath School pupil has had six operations and may have to have more.
The drawing, taken from a witness account, is of a motorcyclist seen acting suspiciously in the Mead Close area for up to five hours before the incident, which happened at around 9.30pm.
He was white, around 6ft tall, in his late twenties and had blue eyes.
He had a distinctive gap between his two front teeth, was wearing black leathers and was riding a dark motorcycle.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Saunders, the man leading the investigation, said: “We are hopeful that this artist’s impression will jog a few people’s memories.
“The incident happened on a bank holiday Monday at the start of May and this man was seen hanging around the area for a considerable period of time.
“In that time he may well have popped into a shop to get something to eat or gone to the toilet.
“I am confident that there are people who will have seen this man on May 5 who have not yet spoken to police.”
Anyone who recognises this man or anyone with information about the incident should is contact Reading CID on 08458 505505, quoting URN 1521 of 5/5/08.
Alternatively, if you do not want to speak to police or leave your name, please call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
