Robert “Junior” Spence died of a single stab wound to the heart

TWO men arrested in connection with the murder of Robert “Junior” Spence have been released without charge.

The men, a 26-year-old, and a 27-year-old, both from High Wycombe, were quizzed by police after they were arrested on Monday and Tuesday, but were released this afternoon (Wednesday).

Junior, 17, died of a single stab wound to the heart in the early hours of last Friday [2] morning after an incident outside Burger King in Reading’s St Mary’s Butts.

Exactly a week after Junior’s death, police officers will be at the scene appealing for witnesses and handing out leaflets appealing for information.

Detective Chief Inspector Stan Gilmour said: “We will be carrying out anniversary checks in the early hours of Friday morning as part of our murder investigation.

“We are actively pursuing a number of lines of inquiry, however, our investigation is at an early stage and it is vitally important that anyone who was in Reading in the early hours of last Friday morning or witnessed the incident or anyone who has any information about what happened contacts the incident room as soon as possible.”

Contact: The incident room on 0845 8 505 505, quoting URN 855 2/5/08, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
