Crime is down north of the river

CRIME in Caversham and Emmer Green has fallen by up to 17%, the latest figures reveal.
Statistics for the Caversham West, Caversham North and Lower Caversham police neighbourhoods compare the number of crimes between April-March 2006/7 and the same period for 2007/8.
In Caversham West, which covers Caversham Heights, Bugs Bottom and part of Emmer Green, crime was down 6% overall, despite a rise in violent crime of nearly 21% and a 4% rise in burglary.
Vehicle crime was up nearly 11% but other crime, including criminal damage and drugs offences, was down 26%.
In Caversham North, which covers Caversham Park Village and the rest of Emmer Green, crime was down by 17% overall, with violent crime up 19%, burglary down nearly 27%, vehicle crime down 8.6% and other crime down by nearly 30%.
In the Lower Caversham area, including the centre of the village and Amersham Road, crime is down 12% over all, with violent crime down 9.5%, burglary remaining at the same level, vehicle crime down by 17% and other crime down almost 16%.
The figures were revealed at a public meeting for residents in the Lower Caversham Police Neighbourhood.
