Southcote pupils have brought a rock and roll musical based on The Tempest to life.
Blessed Hugh Faringdon Catholic School music and drama students have spent the last three months working on their performance of Return To The Forbidden Planet.
The 1980s musical by Bob Carlton is also inspired by the 1956 sci-fi film Forbidden Planet, and uses hit music from the 50s and 60s to tell the tale of Captain Tempest who pilots a spaceship to mysterious planet D’Illyria, home of mad scientist Doctor Prospero and his daughter Miranda.
Executive producer and the school’s director of specialist status Audrey Hopkins said: “It’s a fabulous achievement – the work that the staff and pupils have put in is tremendous.”
The play was performed to friends and family at the start of April and included songs 'Wipeout’, 'Great Balls Of Fire’ and 'Good Vibrations’.
The Fawley Road school – which is now a specialist Performing Arts College – celebrates its 50th anniversary this month.
