FANS of Doctor Who and Torchwood have a chance to meet one of the shows' biggest stars.

John Barrowman MBE, who starred as Captain Jack Harkness in the BBC sci-fis, and his sister Carole, will be signing copies of their new young adult fantasy book Conjuror at 5pm on Monday May 9 at the Waterstones on Broad Street.

Mrs Barrowman, who is an English Professor in Wisconsin, has been writing with her brother since they were at school.

Their latest offering reaches back to the Spanish Inquisition and the Atlantic slave trade, bringing the supernatural to the streets of Chicago, across the rooftops of central London and to the highlands of Scotland.

Cheryl Dibden, Waterstones' Event Coordinator, said: “We are delighted to announce an event with actor and author John Barrowman and his sister Carole as they sign their new book Conjuror.

“There are lots of fans in Reading, as well as some very excited members of our team, who will be thrilled to meet John and Carole, at what we know will be a fabulous event.”

Chronicle readers have the chance to win a signed copy of Conjuror, a specially designed t-shirt and the opportunity to meet John and Carole one-on-one before the event.

To enter, send the answer to the following question along with your name, email address, telephone number and address to events.reading@waterstones.com or send to Waterstones Reading Broad Street, 89a Broad Street, Reading RG1 2AP before midnight 5 May.

What is the title of the Barrowman's new book?

The Barrowman's will be at The Bulmershe School for an event on the same day where approximately 250 pupils from Years seven, eight and nine will be in attendance.
