A studio for ballroom dancing could be coming to an industrial estate in Reading.

A couple have a plan to convert a storage and distribution unit in Katesgrove into a venue for dance classes and lessons.

Elsewhere, a vacant office building close to the town centre could be converted into flats.

Meanwhile, in Caversham, an owner has applied to convert a semi-detached house from flats back into a single-family home.

The couple who run the company Dance Planet Ltd have applied to convert a storage and distribution unit at the industrial estate in Britten Road, Katesgrove into a dance studio.

The project would involve using the sizeable storage space as a dancefloor, while retaining existing staff facilities.

Explaining the project, one of the business owners said: “Our plan is to open a modern ballroom dance studio which provides a full range of services.

“There will be competitive and social group classes and private lessons.

“At the core of our business will be a high level of teaching expertise, variety of different classes for all ages and levels and a great team spirit.”

The owner of a vacant office building in Oxford Road near the town centre has applied to convert it into seven flats.

The three-storey offices are located next to the Matinée Multilingual recording studio.

A conversion project would see two bedsit rooms each located at ground and lower ground level, and the first floor, with another bedsit on the second floor.

Each room would come with a double bed, basic cooking facilities and a shower toilet, with a larger shared kitchen and laundry room provided at lower ground level.

The owner of a semi-detached house in Kidmore Road has applied to convert it from three flats back into a family home.

Changes would see two new bedrooms being established on the first floor, providing three bedrooms, and the retention of the top floor bedroom with its own shower toilet.

The house comes with three reception rooms, a kitchen and breakfast room and a shower toilet on the ground floor.

The owner of the building that was previously home of the Natwest bank in School Road, Tilehurst, has applied to convert upstairs rooms into flats.

The rooms were previously used by staff at the bank before it closed in June last year.

A conversion project would create two one-bed flats, with each having an open-plan kitchen living room and a shower toilet.
