A 55-year-old woman has died after being pulled from the River Thames by a member of the public.

At around 2:18pm on Monday, April 29, the woman, who remains unnamed, was rescued from the river near Island Bohemian Bowls Club.

She was taken to hospital, where she sadly died.

Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Senior investigating officer Detective Sergeant Alexander Willis said: “Firstly, my condolences go to the woman’s family and loved ones during this difficult time.

“We are investigating the circumstances of her death, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

“There is no threat to the wider public but please speak to a uniformed officer if you are worried or concerned.

“I would ask anyone who was in the area near the river yesterday lunchtime to please contact us.
